Palimon is a work that fits within the new narrative style because of the content of reality within a subset of the real world. Through Palimon, Juan G. Ruelas gives us a critique of the political and socio-economic system of Mexico as well as the educational system. Palimon is a work where the main character serves as a microcosm, that is, one aspect, a critique, an example that becomes a global model. What happens in Armatlan not only happens there, but throughout the country and throughout Latin America. The inefficiency of the government, which can be seen in the work, exists likewise in many other countries. There is a need for change, and this is only achieved if there are more Palimons, with the burning desire to change the entire political, economic, and social system, as well as promoting education and cultural growth.

Palimón es una obra que cabe dentro de la nueva narrativa debido al contenido de la realidad dentro de un mundo sub-real. Juan G. Ruelas, a través de Palimón, nos hace una crítica del sistema político y socio-económico de México, así como del sistema educativo. Palimón es una obra en donde el personaje sirve como un microcosmo, es decir, un aspecto, una crítica, un ejemplo que se convierte en un modelo global. Lo que pasa en Armatlán, no sólo pasa ahí, sino en todo el país y en toda América Latina. La ineficiencia por parte del gobierno, que se puede ver en la obra, existe de igual manera en muchos otros países. Existe la necesidad de un cambio, y éste sólo se logrará si surgen más Palimones, con ese deseo ardiente de cambiar todo el sistema político, económico y social, así como de fomentar la educación y el crecimiento cultural.
